Atlantic Beach Resort is the resort that will forever stand the test of time and conquer any challenges that get in its path.
Hurricane Florence left a lasting footprint in the hearts of our employees, owners, and guests. As well as the soil at Atlantic Beach Resort. The two feet of rain that Hurricane Florence dumped on the property ruined the interior, and it had to be redone down to the studs to avoid future mold problems. HVAC, drywall, plumbing, electrical and other experts had to be called in to replace it all, in a town that had no shortage of resort repair work to offer.
After many months of demolition, reconstruction, contractors, and more, we were nearing the finish line. However, the recent impacts of COVID-19 have presented us with new challenges.
Here are the challenges we are currently facing:
1. Beach access: We are currently scheduled to appear before the town managers/council to receive our variance to begin construction of the new beach walkover. Due to the impact of COVID-19, this meeting has been postponed since March and is currently set for mid-June. Once approved, construction can begin.
- Various fixtures: Prior to COVID-19, deliveries were on schedule arriving from China but now they are delayed. The units cannot be issued Certificates of Occupancy until these fixtures arrive are installed.
- This impacts fixtures in units as well as the indoor pool common area. Furthermore, we may be forced to postpone the re-opening of the indoor pool until this is remedied.
The shutdown has impeded our pace, but we are still working hard and making progress. We are looking forward to opening our doors once again!
